Sapphire Plug-ins for AVX2: AdvancedDefocus

S_AdvancedDefocus

Generates a defocused version of the source clip using a 'circle of confusion' convolution. This effect is often preferable to a gaussian blur for simulating a real defocused camera lens, because bright spots can be defocused into clean shapes instead of being smoothed away. The iris shape can be controlled using Points, Pointiness and Rotate, and the Use Gamma and Boost Highlights parameters can adjust the relative brightness of the blurred highlights. Use the params in the Lens Vignette group to simulate optical vignetting and matte box artifacts.

In the Sapphire Blur+Sharpen category.

Inputs:

Source: The current track. The clip to be processed.

Background: Optional. The clip to use as background. The output of the effect is composited over this clip.

Mask: Optional. Interpolate between the result and the Source input. White areas use the result of the effect. Black areas use the Source clip.

Shape (Zoomed In): Show the iris shape, zoomed in to fill the frame.

Roundness: Default: 0.3, Range: any.
Modifies the shape of the simulated camera iris. A value of 1 produces a circle; 0 gives a flat-sided polygon with a number of sides given by the Shape parameter. Less than 0 causes the sides to squeeze inward giving a star shape, while a value greater than 1 causes the corners to squeeze inward, giving a flowery shape. Has no effect if the Shape is set to Circle.

Rotate: Default: 0, Range: any.
Rotates the iris shape.

Bokeh: Default: -0.3, Range: any.
Softens the outer edge of the iris shape, which gives a softer look to the defocused highlights. A negative value darkens the center of the iris shape, producing a ring-like defocus shape.

Notch Angle: Default: 0.05, Range: 0 to 1.
Controls the angle of lens notching in the iris shape.

Color Fringing: Default: 0, Range: any.
Produces rings of color around every object in the image by varying the focal distance for each color channel. It gives a different style of chromatic aberration from Chroma Distort because it's not just in the image corners.

Color Fringing Style: Popup menu,  Default: Red/Blue .
Selects the type of color fringing.
Red/Blue: Creates a double fringe: orange and red for negative Color Fringing or cyan and blue for positive Color Fringing.
Green/Magenta: Creates a single fringe: green for negative Color Fringing or magenta for positive Color Fringing.

Lens Noise: Default: 0, Range: 0 or greater.
Increase to add noise to the iris shape, dirtying up the defocus a little. Can make the result more realistic. Turn up past 1 for a more stylistic result.

Noise Freq: Default: 40, Range: 0.01 or greater.
The frequency of the added noise. Ignored if Lens Noise is zero.

Noise Freq Rel X: Default: 1, Range: 0.01 or greater.
The relative horizontal frequency of the added iris noise. Increase to stretch it vertically or decrease to stretch it horizontally.

Noise Seed: Default: 0.123, Range: 0 or greater.
The seed value for the added noise. To make the noise appear different on each frame, animate this to be different on each frame. The actual value doesn't matter; only that it's different.

Optical Vignette: Default: 0, Range: -1 to 1.
Simulates optical vignetting, which crops the defocused highlights into a pointed ellipse shape and darkens the output. The effect is stronger near the edges of the frame. Larger values increase the amount of cropping, and cause the effect to extend more toward the center of the frame. Positive values crop the inner edges of the highlights, and negative values crop the outside edges.

Vignette Size: Default: 1, Range: 1 or greater.
Controls the relative size of the vignette crop circle. Larger values will reduce the intensity of the effect, as well as the curvature of the cropped edge.

Matte Box Left: Default: 0, Range: 0 to 4.
Crops the inner edge of defocused highlights on the left side of the frame. Larger values increase the amount of cropping and extend it farther across the frame.

Matte Box Right: Default: 0, Range: 0 to 4.
Crops the inner edge of defocused highlights on the right side of the frame. Larger values increase the amount of cropping and extend it farther across the frame.

Matte Box Top: Default: 0, Range: 0 to 4.
Crops the inner edge of defocused highlights on the top of the frame. Larger values increase the amount of cropping and extend it farther across the frame.

Matte Box Bottom: Default: 0, Range: 0 to 4.
Crops the inner edge of defocused highlights on the bottom of the frame. Larger values increase the amount of cropping and extend it farther across the frame.

Texture Intensity: Default: 1, Range: 0 to 1.
Adjusts the intensity of the texture overlay. When set to 1, the lens is multiplied by the texture. Lower values mix in more of the original lens, with a value of 0 disabling the texture entirely.

Grain Amp: Default: 0, Range: 0 or greater.
Scales the amplitude of the grain that is added to the result. Set this to 0 to disable all grain.

Grain Amp Brights: Default: 0, Range: 0 or greater.
The relative amount of grain applied to the brightest regions of the image, per channel. Bright source intensity in the image is defined as white (1 1 1).

Grain Amp Darks: Default: 0.37, Range: 0 or greater.
The relative amount of grain applied to the darkest regions of the image, per channel. Dark source intensity in the image is defined as black (0 0 0).

Grain Amp Mids: Default: 1, Range: 0 or greater.
The relative amount of grain applied to the midtone regions of the image, per channel. Midtone source intensity in the image is defined by the Midtone Pos parameters.

Grain Size: Default: 1, Range: 0.001 or greater.
Scales the size of the grain that is added to the result. Useful when changing resolution, set this scale factor to match the change in resolution.

Grain Blur: Default: 0.00567, Range: 0 or greater.
The grain is smoothed by this amount. Increase for coarser grain.

Grain Mono: Check-box,  Default: off.
When enabled, the same grain pattern is used for the red, green, and blue channels. To make truly monochrome grain you should also set Grain Amp Red/Green/Blue equal to each other, make sure Midtone Pos Red/Green/Blue are equal, and if GrainBlur is positive also set Grain Blur Red/Green/Blue equal

Grain Seed: Default: 0.123, Range: 0 or greater.
Initializes the random number generator for the grain generation. The actual seed value is not significant, but different seeds give different grain patterns and the same value should give a repeatable pattern.

Boost Highlights: Default: 0, Range: 0 or greater.
The amount to increase the luma of the highlights in the source clip. Increase this parameter to blow out the highlights without affecting the darks or mid-tones.

Hilight Threshold: Default: 0.9, Range: 0 or greater.
The minimum luma value for highlights. Pixels brighter than this will be brightened according to the Boost Highlights parameter.

Chromatic Aberration: Default: 0, Range: any.
Adds some chromatic aberration around the edges of the image; red and blue wavelengths of light refract differently in real lenses, producing fringes of color where the rays strike the lens at oblique angles.

Use Gamma: Default: 1.8, Range: 0.1 or greater.
Values above 1 cause highlights in the source clip to keep their brightness after the defocus is applied.

Brightness: Default: 1, Range: 0 or greater.
Scales the brightness of the result.

Offset Darks: Default: 0, Range: any.
Adds this gray value to the darker regions of the result. This can be negative to increase contrast.

Gauss Blur: Default: 0, Range: 0 or greater.
If positive, a gaussian blur is also applied which smooths out the edges of the shapes. This might also darken the highlights because Gamma is not considered in the gaussian blur.

Mix With Source: Default: 0, Range: 0 to 1.
Interpolates between the defocused result and the original source. Set this to 1 for the original source.

Edge Mode: Popup menu,  Default: Reflect .
Determines the behavior when accessing areas outside the source image.
Transparent:
Repeat: Repeats the last pixel outside the border of the image.
Reflect: Reflects the image outside the border.

Resolution: Popup menu,  Default: Full .
Selects the resolution factor for the defocus. Higher resolutions give better quality, lower resolutions give faster processing.

Affect Alpha: Check-box,  Default: off.
If enabled, defocus the alpha channel as well as the color channels. Otherwise, only defocus the color channels, leaving alpha unchanged.

Mask Use: Popup menu,  Default: Luma .
Determines how the Mask input channels are used to make a monochrome mask.
Luma: the luminance of the RGB channels is used.
Alpha: only the Alpha channel is used, or if there is no valid Alpha channel the Red channel is used.

Blur Mask: Default: 0.05, Range: 0 or greater.
Blurs the Mask input by this amount before using. This can provide a smoother transition between the masked and unmasked areas. It has no effect unless the Mask input is provided.

Invert Mask: Check-box,  Default: off.
If on, inverts the mask input so the effect is applied to areas where the Mask is black instead of white. This has no effect unless the Mask input is provided.
